ABOUT THE DIRECTORY
The Bitcoin Nonprofit Directory was built to answer a specific question: which nonprofits actually hold Bitcoin as a treasury reserve rather than immediately converting donations to fiat? The answer required original research across IRS filings, annual reports, public statements, and direct organizational disclosures.
The directory applies a five-tier evidence framework to classify each organization: Confirmed Holders (on-chain or audited proof), Strong Evidence (multiple credible signals), Bitcoin-Only Operations (100% Bitcoin rails), Platforms (Bitcoin giving infrastructure), and Unknown Status (accepting but no treasury disclosure). This framework is documented in full on the Verification Methodology page.
All research is conducted independently. No organization pays for inclusion or classification. The goal is an accurate, defensible, and regularly updated record of the Bitcoin nonprofit sector as it evolves.
